A lovely time was had by all yesterday for Flora day in Helston, the sun was blazing as we arrived with excited children to watch the hal-an-tow at 8:00 am. Our youngest was terrified by the dragon in the reenactment of St George slaying the beast. My middle was most impressed by the sword he won at the fair and has been reenacting the scene (with his brothers playing the part of the unfortunate dragon). Our eldest was delighted that he was allowed into the Blue Anchor with dad. Apparently the Flora day special was quite a brew! A great day to catch up with lots of friends we only seem to bump into once a year. The Flora dance is supposed to celebrate the start of summer so I’m hoping the mizzle will clear away soon.
Hi, my name is Fiona and I am fortunate to live in a beautiful fishing cove almoust as far south as you can get in Cornwall. I live with my husband Simon, former fisherman, who still spends hours drooling over findafishingboat.com, and our three sons, aged 8, 6 and 3. We love to take a punt to deserted beaches in the summer with a bbq, Retallack’s sausages and a plentiful supply of Tribute.
